Guide

How to use this test

  1. 1

Turn Num Lock on if your keypad normally uses it.

  2. 2

Press every number key from 0 through 9.

  3. 3

Check decimal, Enter, plus, minus, multiply and divide.

  4. 4

Watch Num Lock status and reset the test to repeat the keypad.

A keypad test is useful when number keys stop entering digits, Num Lock changes behavior or an external USB numpad seems unreliable. The visual keypad highlights the physical numpad codes rather than the number row above the letters.

On compact laptops, a dedicated numeric keypad may not exist. If your laptop overlays numbers onto letter keys with Fn, those combinations can be handled by the operating system and may not map to standard numpad browser codes.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does this test the number row too?+

This page focuses on the dedicated numeric keypad. Use the main keyboard test for the number row above QWERTY.

Why do keypad keys act like arrows?+

Num Lock may be off. Turn it on and try again.

Can I test a USB numpad?+

Yes. Most USB and Bluetooth numeric keypads generate the same browser codes as a full-size keyboard numpad.
